Website for fine dining restaurant
Designing a website I was focused on:
- effective use of visual elements
- easy available restaurant menu (easy to update)
- easy available booking system
- design that supports the offer by strong exposure of food images
Considering general principles I run a research on potential Adelina’s target audience. On basis on conclusions I draw from research I started to work on minimalist design, where main focus was on delicious and unique food served. It suppose to be a hero of the website.
The homepage presents most important information like contact details, opening hours and easy access to booking system. With the client we decided, that food should be the hero of the website, so all the images (apart from homepage presenting easy recognizable restaurant interior) are depicting tasteful dishes, photographed by professional photographer after each new menu premiere.
About us section is focused on two top chefs, who are real architects of Adelina’s taste. Restaurant menu subpage is easy available from main navigation. It leads to menu landing page with 3 or 4 different menus, which clicked will show list of starters, mains and desserts. Each menu page has got link to other menus on the side to make them easily accessible without a need to go back to landing page or to navigation system.
Booking page contains an iframe or booking widget which comes directly from booking system provider making booking easy and synchronized with restaurant calendar.
Minimalist design paired with simple but still elegant typography and prominent food images let the viewer focus his/her attention on appealing dishes, and lead to book a table to test the offer.
